Deep yellow. Wow, what a nose! A panoply of white flowers, vanilla bean, and tremendous fruit, including tangerine, peach, and apple at times. Big and rich for Kabinett with moderate sweetness on entry and a drier finish. Very good but slightly short acidity. Very early secondary tones, but my oh my, that fruit is really singing today.

Pale gold. Beautiful nose. Delicate, but pronounced. Plenty of tertiary notes now; honey, apricot, peach. Wet stone, a touch of petrol. Palate follows this up. Sweet at first, but with a refreshing wave of acidity. Honey, peach, quite creamy - then ripe apple. Long finish, finishing drier than first impressions suggest. Drinking very well, but this has the intensity and depth of fruit for several years to come. Outstanding

Floral with a hint of fuel and honey and ripe red apple and spice. The palate is medium dry with honeyed notes that sooth the palate and the throat, feels like it would fix a cold. Delicious, complex and immensely enjoyable. Enjoyed with Isle of Mull scallops at The Witchery Edinburgh.

(Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett) ($27.00) I feared this could be arch, stony or blatantly acidic, ’10 being the critter it is. But it’s none of those things; rather a showering wash of juicy crushed mineral, a fruitiness almost musky, and a greeny tingle of herbs.
