This 2003 still has heaps of freshness and acidity. The first sip is lively - at first there is no indication of the 20 years of cellar time this wine is wearing but it comes in the roundness of the mid palate. A luscious, unctuous finish follows. This is still unmistakably Riesling on the nose. The petrol element stands proud but is complemented by honey and white flowers. There’s a bit of nondescript white fruit there as well.
If I were to be hugely critical, this is not the most complex wine but my goodness is it delicious and does it wear its age well. It’s a tremendously enjoyable experience. It was about ¥4000 a bottle here which is just insanely good value. I’m so glad I bought 3 to mitigate the ¥1000 shipping fee. I might buy more.
A brilliant end to Wine Club 2023 for me.

Nose of lilacs and spice. A little sweeter than I expect for a Kab, but great acidity and balance. Amazing winemaking in such a year. Long delicious finish of lemon sours, minerals, and spice.

A beautiful wine. A bit soft with lovely balance, good bit of lemony acid. So clean, clear, steely. Good finish. Full of class and in a very good place. B/B+

Sodden corks and sticky residue on the bottle :-(

Light, bright and refreshing. With just the amount of sweetness to tame down a Peruvian ceviche. Great pairing. Lovely wine.
