Wine Tasting Group - Napa and Sonoma - Jan 18, 2020 (Classic Wine Storage, Dallas, TX): Initially shy aromas and was decanted. After 1h in decanter, nutty, baked apple aromas with hints of caramel/nougat. Palate had baked apples, grapefruit, mild oak spice, minerals, and a mild walnut/almond skin note. Excellent acids. After another 30 min, the palate becomes more focused and cohesive. Excellent showing. 91+
This bottle showed very advanced, particularly on the palate, where it was essentially dead. Not oxidized, just kind of finished. The nose was distractingly toffee like at first, then gathered itself and showed some promise, but this bottle should have been enjoyed years ago. Or on a night that was not as bad for wine as last night - and everything showed poorly, to be fair.

Deep gold color, but in great shape - although this was from magnum. Almond, flint, broth, mushroom, nice acid and great with food. I wish I had more of this in magnum; not sure it would be as good at this age in 750ml
