Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Sous bois, black cherry, violets, hints of wilted roses, some warmth; a bit of grip, slowly writhing, extended and fairly full finish; light handed yet engaging, very pleasant

  • Not quite as impressive as some of the other '97s chez Jadot, nor exhibiting much site-driven personality, but still a very pleasant wine, offering up some mature, earthy "sous bois"-type flavors that have turned very savory with age on an elegant, graceful frame. The material is stretched enough to give it transparency but not to the point of tearing a hole in the middle like so many of the vintage's failures.

  • Very nice floral nose that leaps out of the glass: ripe but not over-ripe. Rich, ripe flavors with a nice core of cherry. Not as great as the nose suggests yet. Some tanin still noticeable but none of the classic '97 roasted flavors. Could go another 5 to 10 years, nice wine, could use a little more smoothing out.
