Riesling and Pinot Noir Lunch (Sun Wah - Chicago IL): Double blind at Riesling/ Pinot Noir lunch. My 2nd time tasting this wine and this is the 2nd odd bottle. Slightly reductive and somewhat lacking depth. Shocked when unveiled, this is a wine I typically enjoy in most vintages, and 2010 is a vintage that thrills me. I have a few bottles in my cellar, and will have to open one some time soon.

Lovely, showing the light side of NSG beautifully. Great fruit, light on its feet but with complexity and depth. Red fruits, flowers, herb. Great balance with a medium full palate. Light, lovely, flavorful, excellent and has balance to become better. It was at least as good of not better on day 2, with impeccable balance. There seems to be bottle variation given some of the other notes, this was double decanted from my passive cellar, purchased on release.

NSG North Virtual Tasing (Zoom / Chicago): A really odd bottle that is nowhere near as good as a bottle from earlier this year. This is very structured with edgy/blocky tannin that is not integrated with the seemingly light-weight fruit. Reduction is significant and doesn't blow off. Wonder if this is just an off bottle or the wine is in a weird spot. Oddly clamped down for a 2010 (that are generally and consistently wide open for business).

Nuits St. Georges 1er "Northside" Tasting (Chicagoland IL): A very perplexing bottle. This started off slightly reductive, simple but enjoyable, with interesting potential. This closed down hard (rare for 2010) and the reduction got much more pronounced on both nose and palate. Started off as ok, ended as unenjoyable. Odd indeed. I'm told previous bottles have been completely different.

A pretty NSG that showed darkish red fruit, wild flowers and purple fruit. It was elegant but slightly short in length. 91-92
