Pop and pour. Compared to our previous bottle consumed in late 2015, this one retains the deep gold hue and the rich, almost syrupy mouthfeel, but the fruit has receded. It's there, but the wine now leads with minerality, and stays there through the finish. I think we're probably at the end of the plateau, so pop one open and judge for yourself if you haven't already done so.

Decades of Decadence - "The 9's" (Buellton, CA): Intense spice and rich citrus fruit on the nose that carries through to the palate. Richly textured and full-weighted palate with great flavor intensity brought into focus with nicely balancing acidity. The wine sharpens and shows more finesse with air. Excellent.

Decades of Decadence -- the '9' Edition (Our Favorite Spot in Buellton, CA): Fully mature, but not fading. A really off nose, almost like cooked pork or something (?), but not found on the palate. Plenty of acid, alongside ripe orchard fruit and mild butterscotch. Pretty straightforward, in a good way, but I did miss an element of complexity.

Color of apple cider. Butter, oak, mint, and caramel nose. Mature. Ripe apple vanilla, butter,, integrated tannins, moderate acidity, long finish. If you are a Chablis fan, don't go here, if you like rich buttery Cali Chard you will like this.

Lemon yellow. Tropical fruits, lemon, butterscotch, tart apple and well balanced finish. This was magical with ravioli lasagna with spinach and sausage. Drank best at cellar temperature. Exceptional.
