  • deepish red purple, still young color on the rim, nose of cassis and aged oak spice, a bit of forest floor, calming, on the palate a joyous ripe core of cherry fruit, cassis, remains of a fair amount of oak that has integrated quite well, forest floor, and wonderfully along with these tertiary developments the fruit itself has remained beautifully fresh and vibrant, a perfect companion to the superb 1988 Magdelaine tonight- and indeed its equal at the very least.

****+, ready to drink and time in hand

  • Probably a year or 2 away from optimal. And this one is 16 years young. Nose of lightly toasted oak, dark chocolate, blackberry. Entry showing just about zero signs of age. Blackberry, tobacco, fig, hint of smoke. Still has lots of acidity throughout. Finishes with darker notes. Dusty tannin. Really amazing how this one IMO is still on the youthful side of the curve and still on the upswing. Really nice wine, but if you have this one it will probably be at the top of the hill in 2 or 3 years.

  • Medium purple in color. Bright red fruit on the palate, mostly raspberry with a bit of strawberry. Also evidence of some white pepper, cedar and cassis. Medium bodied, medium finish. This was a little rough for me.

  • This wine is still very youthful, but delicious. Strains of red fruit and cedar, almost like a mature Brunello. Extremely full bodied, with a dusty/minty taste. Long finish with some very nice acidity. Wish I had another bottle to drink again in 4-5 years.

  • Drank at a restaurant, so did not decant.
Still had an impressive amount of tannin.
Improved after 10 or 15 minutes of air, but then settled down without significant change over the next hour.
Distinctive, as one gets with a single vineyard wine.
A very elegant wine with a long finish, just very impressive.
