  • OK. Musty nose almost hides the fruit. This is a cerebral wine. Nothing fruit forward about this. Have to tease out the flavors with patience and careful sipping. Slight red fruit and game. My last bottle. It is done.

  • Popped and poured Wonderful example of fully mature and beautiful syrah. Still has some life remaining, but not likely to improve. Great wine and worth the wait..

  • This is a favourite of mine. This particular vintage of this Tuscan syrah can go toe to toe with most northern Rhones. Much better than the 1999 vintage. Wine is showing some age with notable brick rim. Forward nose of dark red fruit, strawberries, leather and a nice subtle note of smoked bacon. Lots of complexity. The palate is beautifully balanced, tannins ripe and totally integrated, mid-palate is persistent and finish long. All underscored by that Tuscan acidity. Unfortunately this was my last bottle. Drink now.

  • Slow O for 4 hours, consumed over 2 days. A dark, aged ruby color, with three somewhat tight transitions. Gorgeous nose of candied raspberry, pie crust, a hint of mint, meat pie, vanilla, and black pepper. A very full entry, with obvious purity of fruit, offering up very fine layers of strawberry, prune, and tart raspberry. Nicely proportioned mid-palate, with a clean, nearly 30 second finish. Tannins are nearly fully resolved at this point; this will continue to drink well for 3-4 more years. Quite elegant, 13,5% abv, approx $40. The best (and last) of my three bottles. I've followed/consumed this wine since 2005 and, as expected, it really did impress.
