  • Lots of dried red cherry fruit along with some darker tones mixed with flecked herbs, Tuscan earth, leather, balsamic. Tannins poke out a bit on the medium long finish where the structure is apparent. It is Syrah, but certainly could pass for Sangiovese or even a Brunello.

Decant recommended, it took a few hours to fully open up. It still may improve with time, drink now -2026.

  • Inky, dark and brooding in the glass. But closed off when first opened but after decanting and drinking over a few hours really began to express itself.

Black licorice, cassis and violets seamlessly blend with some more game-like notes. The body is thick and almost gritty but at the same time the tannins are well integrated and the fruit keeps everything balanced with bright, tarter notes.

All in all a really beautiful expression of Syrah from Tuscany that I wish we had more of and will definitely seek out again. If you are fortunate enough to have more cellared, feel free to drink now but I’d expect it to continue to evolve for at least another 4-5 years.

  • Ouuhaa, this is a bargain in my eyes, not that you will be tempted to grab a Syrah from Tuscany, but you need to try this one. With the Tuscan twist and the charm of the variety, from 25y + vines and a production of around 4k bottles it is a joy.

  • VinItaly Day 3 (Verona, Italy): Very dark and extracted, violet rim; dark fruit, inky, tobacco, black pepper; silkier tannin than many from their lineup today, wild berry, very purple fruit, young; good.
