4th of 6, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, much more citrus zip in this bottle, fresher and more nuanced but with weight of vintage, still upside and no rush and no hint of pox. F (17.5).

2001 Burgs (Noize): Sure, this wasn't as interesting as the Leflaive Chevalier it was paired with, but it acquitted itself very well - although I admit its open-knit, relatively opulent style is something I'm particularly fond of. Herbal and not hugely demonstrative on the nose, then bittersweet on the palate, with sweet lime, cut grass and a long buttery finish. Probably at its peak, as also suggested by the relatively mid-yellow appearance.

3rd of 6, opened 15 minutes, perfect cork and level, similar to July, colour more advanced than palate, slightly clunky but some upside particularly if flavours tighten as I suspect they will, no hint of pox! VGI (17).

1st of 6, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - palish, waxy, yellow, bright and youthful; attractive nuanced nose, crisp but with nice hint of tropical fruit, flinty minerality, notable citric component; medium, long, persistent, nice drive and balance with high acidity kept in check by notable depth and concentration of a top vintage, no pox, upside yet. At least F (17.5).
