Drank this with Pacalet. It started off with a strong leroy stemmy nose. Very sweet and ripe with some candied fruits. Blind tasted it and guessed it was an '03. It was quite powerful and intense throughout the night, but I would expect a bit more complexity from Leroy

Very deep dark red in color, opened bottle for 2 hours b4 drinking. Nose of brooding dark red fruit, loads of dates, unlike last time this is very beaune in character, a bit rustic, very full palate, gamey, loads of fruit which will take another 3 years+ to resolve. Not an elegant wine and finishes with a bit of chalkiness, not as pure Fruited as the bottle that I had 1.5 years ago.

Great bottle of Leroy, very deep in color and starting to drink well, in fact really well. Very deep nose with the usual petals and stems but also some earthy and spices. Palate just as deep and full, just the slight rough tannins give away it is a Beaune wine, otherwise it is more like a well made Gevrey Chambertin, a relative value in the Domaine Leroy stable.

(Leroy Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Narbantons) Deep colour. The nose is dense and tight; there’s a little oak-gilded black fruit, only deepens a little after 25 minutes in the glass. Lower acidity than the 04’s, though quite well balanced. The finish is dominated by toasty oak - though not ashy. After the 04’s this is rather ponderous and extracted - there is also perceptible petillance - but it would be a shame to judge this so young, particularly after the ultra-different 2004’s that preceded it. Revisit when it’s 15 years old, but given the price (3 times the price of the 1999) I won’t be joining the ride!

Side by side with 2003 & 2007 Savigny les Beaune.
2003 got a ripe, floral and intense aroma. This wine is rich, sweet, black fruit with great depth. Enjoyable Leroy.
2007 is much more elegance, floral with transparency. Body is a bit light in comparing to 2003.
