As I look at my note from almost three years ago, my impressions are much different. This bottle showed more earthiness, and almost a burnt rubber note - but not in a bad way. I'd like to think if I had this blind again, I would guess Burgundy this time, but I'll never know.
There is plenty of fruit and freshness, despite being almost 28 years old. This seems like it could cruise on for a long time. Thanks for sharing this bottle Bob.
I thought this wine paired best with a delicious piece of smoked short rib with creamed corn, poblano, tomato and sesame tonight.

Tasted blind in a flight of two wines. The other wine was known to be 2005 Pernot Beaune Clos des Teurons. Compared to the Pernot, this was much fruitier and bigger. My first thought was new world, however the nose reminded me a little of Beaujolais and carbonic maceration. While the wine was fruity it didn't seem like it could be California either. I found a slight orange rind note. The wine seemed fairly young. I guessed 2007-2008 Oregon Pinot. I never would have thought this was 25 years old. I liked the wine.
