Monthly Tasting Group HWS #087; Burgundy: Vosne Romanée and Clos Vougeot. (By VD): Beautiful bouquet with laurel, licorice, minerals, earth and a touch of barnyard. On the palate juicy red berries and cherries, spiciness and leather. Firm acidity and a little sweetness. The tannin is a bit drying in the finish. Beautiful wine. Ready now and no real hurry.

Bouquet with a lot of ripe red forest fruits. On the palate red fruits, plum, sweet spices, some chocolate, good acidity, tannin and bitterness. Beautiful wine with a great length.

Dark ruby color. Subdued aromas of wood, raspberries and earth with a slightly caramelized impression on the finish. Slightly drying tannins, but it is of course very young. I guess it will be much better and more typical in a few years. Solid village burg and not too ripe for a 2003, but still way behind its 2002 counterpart (which is one of the best village burgundies I have tasted so far).

(Arnoux Robert Vosne-Romanée) Bottled only six weeks before. Sweet black nose that very slowly releases a red berry note too. Lovely mouth wrapping tannins and a creamy texture. Medium-plus length. This is a nicely controlled wine until it reaches room temperature - than it gets a bit loutish. Just keep him cool!

Ruby red. Sweet, forward black fruit aromas. Delicate with a light creamy texture revealing red berries, cherry and fine dry tannins.
