Magnum format. Very nice spot here with 3-5 years of prime drinking window left. Everything resolved, tertiary flavors. Smooth and round with slight dusty tannin on the finish. Only gripe is could use more depth but this is very nice and enjoyable.

David’s 1999 Cote de Nuits (Lorne, London): Dense ruby. Very Jadot nose initially, though the initial sturdiness gives way to a jasmine fragrance. Decent weight and reasonable line, not as stolid as one might have initially assumed. ****

A deep colour; dense, ripe fruit, slightly cooked (in a good way) and with more mature vegetal notes. Still quite sturdy and, although mature, it should keep for a few years yet.

David's 1999 Côtes de Nuits 1er Cru, Village by Village Horizontal (Lorne Restaurant, London): Muscular and dark fruited, a lovely tart / sweet / sour kumquat character, later some star anise emerges. Palate is dark fruited and peppery, really interesting nose leaning towards rosehip puree. Yum. My 3rd favourite wine of the night.

Quite a deep colour for a Burgundy; dense, slightly cooked fruit, meaty and with good length. Still keeping well, but attractively mature now.
