Bright mid ruby. Nicely mellow., soft and rounded. A little more line with some air. A savoury edge for some interest. Quite harmonious. Very decent. ***1/2

Dense ruby. A sturdy dense beefiness on the nose. Good grip and presence on the attack. Fresh, with dense fruit. Lacks some persistence though and with air becomes quite compressed. All teeth and trousers with little middle or finish. That said, the front end is rich and attractive. ***

Mid bright ruby. Pretty reduced with a bacon frazzles nose. Some aeration reveals a quite complete wine, still with a slightly agricultural feel, but with lots to like. Attractive and with a fair degree of interest. ****

Bright mid ruby. Dense and vibrant. Bright mid red fruit with some density on the nose. Softer on the attack, quite bright on the mid palate. Finely chalky tannin on the finish. Perfectly correct, but lacking in excitement. ***1/2

Dense ruby. Similar on the nose to the Roumier. Finely chalky. Nicely padded without being rich. Attractive and an approachable Barthod. Doesn’t quite hold its line with air. ***1/2

Faulty.

Dense ruby. Very Jadot nose initially, though the initial sturdiness gives way to a jasmine fragrance. Decent weight and reasonable line, not as stolid as one might have initially assumed. ****

Dense mid ruby. A little on the warm side. Nicely rich and rounded. Attractive with good length. ****

Bright and vibrant. Really very fragrant, all freshly cut freesias. Finely silky. Just a gentle grip reminding one it’s ‘99. Served a little warm but this is very proper and extremely attractive. ****1/2

A little diffuse and soupy, and rather too warm. Lacks the porcellaneous precision of a recent 98. A little broader and richer but also a little clumsier. I don’t think the small glass and warm temperature is helping it, but I’ve had better bottles of this. Others liked it a little more. Top ***

Denser and darker. Again a little richer. Good structure but this bottle seemingly a little two dimensional. Again, a little too warm for clarity. ***

Initially the same reductive bacon frazzle nose of the Girardin. With air this lightens and freshens. Really quite fine and elegant with a savoury quality to the floaty fruit. Very attractive though some might prefer a less waif like presentation. A significantly better bottle than one a decade ago which shared the floaty ethereal nose but fell apart soon after. ****

Gorgeous bright mid ruby to garnet. A richness without clumsiness. Again, served too warm to do it any favours but there a rich yet elegant wine underneath.****

A slightly sweaty nose opening to a rounder, more honeyed affair. Broad and a little cheesy on the finish. Foresquare but with some interest. ***

Dense. A little cloudy. Full garnet to a mid ruby beneath the murk. After a little while it’s clearly corked.

Light and bright mid ruby. Nicely fresh. Finely grippy tannins. This is surprisingly good and quite attractive. Solid ***
