Amazing wine. How is this 13 years old? Five years on from my last bottle and this is rounding into form, but is probably *still* on the upswing. Incredibly youthful. This is more like top-flight Chablis.

Medium yellow. Citrus, herb, and an unusual touch of vanilla. Medium weight, some glycerine texture-not quite as lush feeling as some Boulay wines, but still much more layered than most Sancerre. Gorgeous ripe lemon with outstanding acidity, less green on the palate than the nose. Superb length and vivacity at 12 years of age.

Medium yellow, very healthy for its age. Slightly reductive at first, then predominantly grapefruit and orange peel aromas with light herbaceousness. Medium weight, definitely leaner and less rich than the typical Boulay of this age. Dry, limestone, terrific acid drive. This still has a long way to go. Excellent.

This may be the first “age-worthy” Sancerre that I’ve enjoyed during its drinking window (i.e. not too young). It was outstanding. Everything you’d expect from a great Sancerre, but with more body and complexity and length. It paired exceptionally with everything we threw at it, which included oysters, several varieties of goat cheese, garlic shrimp, and even tortilla española. I’m very sad that this was my only bottle of this.

Has this even aged these last 11 years? So clean, fresh, vibrant and zippy. The only hint this has spent some time in bottle is the depth of aroma and flavour. Grapefruit zest, passion fruit, fresh cut grass, fennel bulb, and crushed rocks. Lovely herbaceous and green notes that just keeps on developing in the glass like the first crack of Spring. Makes you feel as though you’re in the middle of harvesting your spring vegetables in your garden. Incredibly long finish. In a great spot now, but plenty of live ahead. Drink now through 2030+
