Outstanding. Decanted before dinner and consumed over 3-4 hours. The cork didn't say DIAM but it sure looked and felt like one. Shy nose at first, but from the first sip, we were in a land of length and complexity that genuinely made my jaw drop. 45 seconds? Something like that? We had pan-fried wild halibut, which was the perfect choice, and then afterward just sipped it alone, where it continued to unfold. At times it seemed almost overhwhelming - I had an image of a pack of horses trying to get through a narrow gate. It's still very young and is going to keep developing. This is only my 4th GC white burg in 12 years of wine drinking, so I don't visit these realms too often, but I'm happy to say that this one was worth the price. Can only imagine what on earth they are like now that they've switched sources and improved their farming techniques.

Motoring along brilliantly. Pours out glistening with a green tinge. There's explosive white peach fruit and loads of spice. It has great intensity and is unctuous and sappy. There's minerality lurking and the finish powers on and on.

Did not have time to take a note, and remember very little one week later as I am writing this — however this was superb. (We has this to start the night, followed by a Phelan Segur 96, then an old Sauternes)
From memory, I recall the nose being quite opulent as aged grand cru white burgundy should be. Very balanced and complex with the oak especially in perfect balance, the fruits taking on dried notes and the early development of tertiary notes. I also recall some unbuttered popcorn notes which I always look for and enjoy in white burgundy.

It was a close call between this Batard and the Aubert the same night. Needed at least 30 minutes to open up and in the beginning it was mistaken for a world class white bordeaux. With time and on day 2 it showed more classical burgundy traits. The bouquet is more tending towards lemon and yuzu aromatics with some flowers wrapped around cold rocks. Not overly rich but very intense this is quite amazing.

Light bright yellow. Little shy to start but opened up as it warmed up. White peach, lemon and mineral notes. Palate is very light in weight yet persistent in flavour and long. Minutes long. Ready to drink.
