It is incredible how that wine still has tannins and structure at 33 years of age, the real sign of old style Bordeaux shows in here. Unsure if Michel Roland was already consulting here. I d doubt it. A wine made by the late Michel Becot, if I remember well.
Bought it at the estate, in 1994 when I did my first red wine internship back in the day. That evening was special, so I did a bit of a Story of my Life tasting ...
So back to the wine, it showed a bit of forrest floor, leaves, but more over a sense of age, only the great old Bordeaux would show... mixed aromas of cedar, sandal, autumn leaves, and not a single truffle or mushroom here ... strangely old merlot smell a lot like truffle to me usually, but here, it was more dense, and more complex... dark fruits still showing
Palate was so dense still, with a grip of tannins, and a good acid level, it is a classic, refined and velvety wine, but in a way, the old school is showing in a wine that has not shown everything still ! can easily go for another 5 years I Reckon.
I have a magnum left, I might keep it away for a couple more years, maybe till the end of MW ... who knows
Blueberry, black cherry, leather, sous bois; lean and elegant but fruitful still with an intensity, penetration, power, finesse and length that is impressive; very very good

With rack of lamb, leek gratin and roasted green beans. Cork was very dry and not even a Durand corkscrew could stop it from falling in. So we decanted through a tea filter. Dark almost black, seductive nose of tertiary notes, earth but also dark chocolate, very fine texture, very tasty with a soft feminine touch. Nice finish. Loved it and a bargain at the $90 I paid 18 months ago on Winebid.

One of these old ones: 12,5 % vol. You don't need more, as long as you have enough substance. Like this silverback. Nose: Cedar, humid forest floor, juniper, cherry jam mixed with currant. Taste: Cherry jam and currant mixed with decomposed wood, juniper, a wee bit cubeb and all covered with a very nice madeira bloom. For a bottle of this age f*** nice and a big surprise.

Deep garnet color
Nose: leather, herb
Palate: plum, dark cherry, some leather, some herb, good bit of acid, very little tannin. Fruit forward, not overly sweet. Short finish.
Reminds me more of a decent rioja than a Bordeaux. Better QPR out there, but a fun experience.
