Very tight nose, even after 45 in the glass. Light to medium body, hints of minerals, tart blackberry, iodine and graphite. Tannins aren’t really woven into the rest of the wine. Lacks balance. I usually prefer Bordeaux, but admit that my guests and I preferred a 2016 Hess Selection Napa Cab (PNP) over this wine. I see lot’s of suggestions to hold and wait, we’ll see…
A nose you can sit and savor featuring black cherry compote, subtle oak, mulling spice, and a hint of cassis or fig.
Front palate of blackberry, oak, and tobacco. Velvety tannins with a touch of grip. Black cherry and burnt vanilla on the edges. Finish has more oak, with hints of licorice and cassis or rich plum.
Earthy full bodied wine. Sweet with definate dark fruit and spice with those oaky and earthy notes you get from so many great Saint Emilions.

Took to La Maison w the Caldwell's. It was incredibly young. After being opened for over an hour or so it started to show its characteristics. The merlot based wine was elegant with blue berry, violet. Way to young.

So I have to eat a bit of crow from my last review. Decanted 4 hours & drank over another hour. Nose is intoxicating. My wife saidI love how this smells. Chocolate cake, cassis, leather tobacco & earth. Wine is opulent and full now with lots of flavor layers. Complex but subtle. All you would want in a St Emilion wine. Will improve with more cellaring and be great for many more years. If you have this wine it needs a several hour decant at this point.

I opened the bottle around noon, and started slowly drinking it at 4pm. By 6pm it was open and started to show its worth. Dark ruby in color, with a plummy nose with black currants, spice, and gentle oak. The palate was thick and dense, with good acdity to balance the grippy tannins, tons of St. Emilion-like black fruits, layers of forest floor, tobacco leaves, eucalyptus even; still tightly wound but already approachable since this is not an overly-structured wine despite all the complexity it shows. The length had spice, some oak, and it was long and lingering. Give it quite a bit of air if you'd like to try it now - but my suggestion is to wait at least 3-4 years as this is still incredibly young - but with great potential. 92 today - 94+ potential.
