From half bottle, A very solid wine for sure but really lacked a feel of complexity or energy and although we have nothing to fault it was a touch underwhelming. 90-91

BUD IS 75! (Abbot Street, Ngaio, Wellington, New Zealand): Deep golden in colour. The palate is very caramel, and shows fine balance. I don't find a huge amount of complexity here, although as wine, this is certainly an outstanding experience, thanks to its purity. Touch of orange peel and a white floral component that adds interest. Ageing very well, although I'm not sure if it is transforming...

Dinner at Eric's (Chicago, IL): From half-bottle. This is quite thick, and the nose has a touch of maple syrup to it, as well as the omnipresent raisin flavours. The palate is quite sweet, with that same brown sweetness component. There's actually a bit of acidity on this as well, that helps balance out the sweetness. Clearly a thick and richer dessert wine, this is perhaps one of the most convincing wines of the Chapoutier stable.

L'expression parfaite du vin liquoreux. Robe ambrée, superbe nez d'une grande complexité, texture magnifique en bouche. On ne lui trouve aucun défaut. Et pourra aisément tenir la route pour encore plusieurs belles années!

From half-bottle. Amber in colour. Very complex nose, with some notes of marmalade, golden raisin, stewed fruit, mushrooms, and perhaps even a bit of meat jus (it's bizarre, I know). A hit of acetone as well. Surprisingly thin in texture on the palate. The flavours on the palate match the nose. Dense and concentrated, and even though there isn't too much acid, this never gets cloying. Does come off a bit hot on the finish though.
