The last of a half case, and still going strong although it's almost fully tertiary and savory. Tobacco, VA, Old Spice, prunes, and some green notes that remind me of cab franc although I'm not sure what the blend was this year. On the palate this is dominated by that stern, slightly bitter, slightly raisinated note from the dried grapes. Excellent.

5th of a half case. The cork was incredibly tight on this and the wine was in great shape. Aroma is classic aged old-school Italian with herbal and high-toned VA notes. On the palate there’s some dried cherry fruit with a little touch of pruny oxidation but really low in the mix. Can’t really ask for more out of this wine at this age- having enjoyed 4 out of 5 of these bottles (one corked) I think I will sit on the last one for a few years just to see what happens.
Opened two bottles. Both got much better with time. One flattened out after 8 hrs and the other was best the next day. Both gained weight, complexity, and fruit with time. Please be patient and decant these for at least 8 hrs or better yet slow ox overnight in the bottle.
