  • For me, this was a couple of years (5?) from being ready. Concentrated with a lot of grippy tannins and acidity, and there is no question that the fruit will evolve from here. Even though it was tight in many ways, there were also signs of the lush, opulent experience that lies ahead. Hold!

  • UWS; A mixed set of wines (@ JB): Beautiful and mature bouquet with sweet licorice. On the palate beautiful red and dark berries, a lot of sweet spices, good acidity and tannin with still a pleasant bite. Very beautiful wine which is ready now.

  • This has reached a perfect level of maturity with a great combination of succulent dark fruit and tertiary notes of minerals and fresh pine. Still plenty of acids but they have softened and the finish is now quite elegnt and complex. A great wine in any context.

  • The first Granato, I think even the first Teroldego I have tasted & I am very happy that this was the first of a case, as this is drinking beautifully & is a gorgeous wine. For a description see Forceberry below, I won't try and compete, as he is a master of deliniating scents & flavours and placing them in the 'analogical fruit, earth & spice matrix' ( to paraphrase another CTers phrase). However, one year on from his review, I wouldn't say it's 'stern & structured', and it was all too easy to drink the whole bottle over the course of a couple of hours after a quick double decant (n.b. it threw a lot of very fine sediment so stand up for a couple of days or filter in a pinch). For some reason Pomerol came to my mind, I think it is the lushness & juiciness of the fruit & intensity of flavour. This is also a fairly big / full-bodied wine, but it has a lovely purity of fruit & earthy, spicy undertones and the most wonderful ripe acidity (is that a thing ?) - at any rate acidity that isn't at all hard or harsh, but adds freshness & lift. Very solid value at £32.50 I/b esp. with 10 years of bottle age. I imagine this will last longer than 2023, but it's so damn tasty now, I can't imagine my remaining 5 bottles lasting that long. Definitely worthy of a higher score than the current 90 point average.

  • Gorgeous wine now perfectly mature in my book with flavors of spicy dark cherry fruit, licorice and medicinal minty mineral freshness that makes this wine so unique. The potent acidity remains giving this a crisp texture and the finish shows a lovely complexity with notes of floral spice and black cherry crunch. Seems to have plenty of life ahead but the strong acid component needs to be monitored.
