Les Monts Damnes and mature White Bordeaux: Sweet nose of watermelon, peach and green apple. Round, oily, medium-low accidity, excellent balance. Pronounced smokiness on the nose and good development of vanilla notes in the glass. Excellent.

Convinced that aged sancerre whites are an acquired taste, I nevertheless rather enjoyed this bottle, now that it seems that the near-sherry-like profile is part of the natural progress.

Medium yellow. A marvel of freshness and texture. Some toned down citrus tones on the nose. Absolutely marvelous mouth feel without any heaviness. Unlike many Cotats, no perceptible sweetness either. Strong acidity at the core, long chalky finish. What more could you ask of a 16 year old white wine, much less Sancerre? Thrilling quality here, just brilliant.

This was an interesting bottle, but over the hill as far as a friend and I are concerned. I'm sure this was a great wine 5-7 years ago.
