Started the night with a great, pruney, fruit-roll-uppy nose, but without much on the palate. Some discussion was had about its level of deadness. All agreed it was past its prime, but still eminently drinkable; that said, we were approaching it at tha point as a historical curiosity and an opportunity for education.
30 minutes later, with some sauced-up gobs of pork belly in our mouths, the thing began to sing. Hints of spicy black fruit seemed to come alive from beyond the grave. Acidity subdued -- this remained a 13-year-old Mondeuse, after all -- but such life!
