Tasted blind. Lovely, savory nose of tart fruit, berries, and pepper. Good acidity with red berries and savory notes on the palate. Nice finish. This could easily be mistaken for a nice Northern Rhone, lovely wine!

P&p. Earthy, piney/herbaceous, cherry, clove and black pepper aromas, with some mild Brett in there melding with the general pungency. With air the fruit goes from reddish to darker; flowers and fleeting orange peel develop; and the light Brett seems to partially blow off. On the palate, crunchy, cool cherry/cranberry/hibiscus, stony earthiness, herbs/leaves. Light+ bodied, with some tannic grip. Good acidity. Slightly bitter finish, refreshing. Rustic, characterful, enjoyable; at its best with 90+ minutes of air in the bottle.

Classic Savoie red, with a bit of rusticity but plenty of ripeness and structure for the appellation/variety. Although I can perhaps see the Syrah comparisons, this reminded me more of something up the road, a Chalonnaise, maybe. Drinking pretty well now, my guess is this will improve. I only wish I were drinking this near the winery, overlooking Lac du Bourget!

Decanted and tasted immediately. Smells good - fresh cherry, black pepper, light pine/herbs; the fruit is a touch candied, not in a bad way. Terrific tart acidity on the palate. Bright fresh fruit/hibiscus, with stony/mineral/earthy, peppery and piney/herbaceous accents. Lovely floral notes develop with a little air. Stony finish. Quite open and approachable (I'm doubtful that the decant was even called for), characterful, and tasty.

Good, but felt sweeter and more fruit forward than the 2008 version. At this point I prefer the 2008 : 86. Revisited the day after, and it fleshed out and got back to the herbal with more structure. Nice :89. Should revisit after couple years only...
