Wow, this is an amazing relic. cherry and tobacco, with some cedar and mineral finish. Do not decant. These notes are fragile and fruit dissipates after about fifteen minutes. Drink up but still very enjoyable.

PnD at Hugh's Xmas drop in. Deep garnet purple almost saturated with youthful rim. Plum pudding and blackberries on the nose. Medium (+) weight with powdery tannins. Nicely ripe blue and black fruits touch of licorice. Lush but fresh. Best Prisoner I have had.

It was interesting to try the Prisoner with a little bottle age. Still a whopper at 15.2% alcohol, but all the components come together nicely. Drink now. although it is by no means over the hill. Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Charbono and Petite Sirah.

Nose: Leather, tobacco leaf, eucalyptus, and some muted cherry and ripe red fruit. Also a touch of earthiness & perhaps mushroom. Palate: somewhat muted very ripe fruit so likely past prime by a couple of years, but still a great wine. Has held up well. Still some acidity, a little oak, and the tannins still leave the mouth dry (especially the sides). Leather, a little earthy, a touch nutty, dried tobacco leaf. Medium plus finish. Terrific wine, really enjoyed this treat. 90-91 pts.

Muted ripe cherry, rather herbal, just delicious. Some tobacco, long length, older leather, earthy. Got one more! Decant 30-60 min. 91 pts.
