Previous tasters were not really impressed with this wine. For us it was a perfect mature Bordeaux. After opening the bottle needed around 15 minutes to get together. Light purple in the glass. Strong, mature nose. The wine itself has a strong acid backbone, liquorace, plum, leather on the palate and a dry, sweet finish. We really enjoyed this.

Château Yon-Figeac, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 1999: Brick red in color with a touch of browning at the edges, throwing lots of sediments. On the nose, black cherries with lots of earthy barnyard funk, wild mushrooms and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with on the palate red berries, cherries, a hint of spice as well as a touch of black truffles, earthy minerals, medium-low acidity and fully integrated, very soft tannins with notes of pipe tobacco and mocha lingering on the moderate finish. Very mature and still enjoyable but drink up. 90+. 13% Abv.

Monthly Tasting Group: Bordeaux 2004 and Older (Meritage, St. Paul): Tasted; was poured as a backup; PNP. This struck me as a bit amped up and not really ready to go tonight. Score reserved.

Drank October 2012. Past its best, more tannin than fruit, rather watery
