  • Best wine I've ever had.
    Seriously.
57th birthday stuff. Brought to Sunset Grille in Moab, decanted myself, shoulda brought my own crystal and decanter because the restaurant did not have any decanters, so I used their plastic water container, and their glass for wine. Despite that, this crazy bottle was the best bottle of wine I've yet had in my life.

Initially it threw me for a loop, as I was not expecting such a dry thing with crazy meats, spices, and fantastic length.

These sips were evolving with stars for 90 seconds! Insane length.
Hoisin, teas, cured meats, spices, stars all evolving to where, one bottle was NOT enough. This needed to be a magnum! I needed more. 750ml...What?! This 750 barely whetted my palate!
To really enjoy this needed to be twice the volume.

    Christophe, man, crazy awesome!
I will be painting with your Horsepower! Been buying cases at auction. Ready to release my new Horsepower series!

  • This was just lovely - unlike any other Cayuse I’ve had (at least 20 different ones over the years) but in really good ways. Beautiful nose of spice, pepper, red fruit and a bit of Cayuse funk (but not much). In the mouth, it’s quite seductive and caressing. Rich and deep flavors all over the place - kirsch, high-quality red licorice, both black and red fruits but red macerated cherry predominating. Spices, a bit of pepper, soft acidity, low tannins. All about flavor and depth and experience. Really something special. Its only flaw was also a strength - a toned-down mid-palate but that just opened up the finish.

  • Smokey, funky, gamey - showing age (mostly in its color) but with plenty of life left. You have to want this style of syrah to enjoy it, but if you do, it’s memorable.
