Still big and intense with a long, long finish. I notice 42% of bottles are still in consumers' cellars - this suggests that this still has a long life ahead of it.

Nose of blackberry, smoke, hints of charred meat, and hints of mint. Really lovely. There is strong fruit, but there is some nice savory and acidic notes to balance it. I can tell that this is going to evolve and evolve over the evening. Still very dark I’m the glass. Hard to believe this is 15 years old!!
Ten or so minutes in this is getting a bit syrupy. Not a direction I like.
Two hours in, there are some pleasant burnt notes that take the fruit a bit.
So the start was promising But never quite got where I hoped it would.

This is one of the best wines I have ever had. Beautiful high toned red fruit, savory and briny notes, all gliding on velvety smooth tannins. There is a slight Cayuse funk but not nearly as noticeable as most Cayuse I’ve had. Perfect balance, perfect drinking window, with a few years left.

(Cayuse Vineyards En Cerise Vineyard Walla Walla Valley) Blood, smoked meat, mineral, and earth on a nose that is restrained initially yet powerful. The palate is rich with fruit and flavors of bloody roast beef. The finish lingers. A compelling wine that is missing a few layers on the palate compared to its littermates. 14.6% alcohol.

Siggy's Annual BBQ (Chez Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Small pour. Pretty close, but maybe a step behind the Cailloux. Smoky, red berry, aromatic, bacon fat, tar, dense. 92+pts.

I have waited years to finally be able to drink a Cayuse. This was absolutely outstanding. A perfect pick for Christmas.
