  • This was a lovely drink but just simply too young. Loved the simple aromas of cherry but it was just too primary at this stage. Wine gained some weight in the glass and after a good decant. But I would really wait for another 5-10 years before drinking this again.

  • Beautiful wine. Still quite young, but with air and time it shows some of what it will be in 5-10 years. The nose is beautiful with lots of red fruits and floral nose; the palate is elegant, yet still carries power and has plenty of structure to age. The finish is lovely. A delightful wine that I would drink again if given the opportunity.

  • A Few Meals in Burgundy; 3/20/2016-3/26/2016 (Burgundy): A rare treat in general, this was so exciting to see on a wine list. Massive fruit concentration (mostly black cherry, some red cherry) with ripe and dense character start-to-finish. Intense and enticingly sweet spice. Superb length and persistence. But....

this is a hard wine to evaluate for two reasons. First, it was stunningly gorgeous in the refreshing and energetic manner of the best 2010s. But secondly, it didn't yet come across as really classically Volnay in any way or manner. So I err in favor of the wine's fundamental organoleptic pleasure and give great kudos.
