  • Faint cork taint spoiled this. Saturated cork, some old seepage.

  • Ready To Drink, starts with a typical Volnay Nose, as it evolves in the Glass the color changes to a more darker ruby red, soft tannins, very well integrated

  • Gorgeous full nose with concentrated red cherry and floral notes. Generous, round and plush on the palate. Floral and spice accents.

  • 1999 Burgundy 1er Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Served alongside the Maison Leroy 1999 Volnay Santenots. This wine was all about bright red fruit, showcasing red cherry and strawberry. Lots of lean fruit well complemented by slightly sweet spice. Long, lean and very energetic. This wine should easily keep improving over the next decade.

The flight was served blind and most of slightly preferred this to the Leroy. Great flight.

  • On an email from a cellar purchase so decided to grab it as I've never seen/had a Coche rogue. Notes are based off of 2-3 hours following the wine.

The nose is a beautiful perfume of spiced red fruits, hints of freshly potted flowers that lingered slowly from the glass. The palate is just a soft refined strawberry and cherry that is laser focused and just hits that just dances on the mid palate and has such lingering flavor that extends to a long finish mixed in with an incredibly bright acidity. It's as bright of a wine as one can think of and a great counterpoint to the wines we had that night.

The sole problem with the wine is at the very end of the finish 15 seconds or so after you take the sip you have this light burnt rubber aftertaste that comes out of nowhere, if not for this, the wine would have an absolutely stellar taste on the palate.
