Badly oxidized and undrinkable. The cork was very tight and intact upon removal from the bottle. Decanted and immediately saw and smelled the over-oxidation of the otherwise wonderful wine.

Tuscany WIMPS 2023 (La Trompette): Nose was quite subdued here with a bit of dark plum but not much else. On the palate there is a round richness with plum and spice but tannins then kick in and throw it off. Would leave well alone for now

Tuscan WIMPS (La Trompette): Approached with trepidation because I've really disliked recent vintages but this was singing: uncomplicatedly delicious saturated red fruit with a sense of luxury alongside nuanced liquorice, tea, a stony minerality. There's vertical lift and energy, and this may be in an in-between phase - while it's deliciously primary with hints of development, the tannins are thick and grainy right now. Delicious but it'll improve.

This was great. Serious Tuscan Merlot. Complex, quite powerful, and long. Drink or hold. I’d try the next one in 5-7 years. Much deeper and darker than expected (I expected more plush red fruit). Opened and slow ox in cellar for 3 hours then splash decant to drink after about 20 mins - kept improving but showed superbly - I’d do this again because I wouldn’t want to break the structure down much more than this.

Took a couple hours to open up … I think wait another 2-3 years before the next one {~2025-2026). Still grainy and a short-ish finish, but potential.
