In a wonderful place, elegant Brunello, on the lighter side, but with subtle notes of strawberry on the medium finish. Would open about 30 - 60 minutes before pouring.

A day 2 glass from a tasting held yesterday, and my last bottle. I had downloaded information from Stella's website prior to the tasting, and this vintage remains the highest production Brunello in the estate's history at almost 1700 cases. This was also the first Brunello that Stella labeled as a Riserva, and was the first wine in our 2nd flight.
Sweet/ripe red fruit on the nose, and confected fruit on the palate. I think I liked this better on day 1, but it's still pretty tasty today.

Ripe, candied cherry fruit on the nose and palate. This is marked by the heat of the vintage, yet still comes across as balanced. I have never been a big fan of 2009 in Tuscany , but this wine, along with the Le Pergole Torte, is one of my favorite wines from that vintage.

In what is a so-so vintage in Tuscany, this really outperforms. I don't know if it will keep for a full 20 years, but it's delicious right now. Earthy red & black fruit on the nose, expansive on the palate with enough acidity to keep the ripe fruit lively. At this point, the kind of wine where you want to drink a bottle every 6-12 months or so to see where it's going.

Wow, what a nose! This is a serious step up from the Salicutti. Crystallized cherry fruit and menthol on the nose.
Focused on the palate, light- to medium-bodied, good acidity and persistence. One hell of a wine given the vintage. I believe this was the first year where Stella released her Brunello as a Riserva, and while I don't think too highly of the vintage overall, this is one delicious wine.
