Sunday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Opened about 2 hours before opening. All tertiary notes on the nose with a little brambly fruit, leather, earth, cigar box, cedar...On the palate it's fleshy and juicy, welcoming and embracing with fine tannins. Fruit is pleasingly wet and fruit sweet. Lovely.

IWS Rest of Northern Italy tasting (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. More cellar stink! A little funky farmard, leather, earth, bramble, cigar box, a little raisin and a touch of red currant with a pinch of white pepper. With time the fruit grows and becomes a little softer. Medium plus intensity acidity, brambles and red currant, tannins are grippy, drying and persistent though the leathery, slightly dried out, fruit comes along for the ride. Yum.

Lunch at Salumi's (Seattle, WA, USA): Fantastic wine. Lots of mineral, cranberry and earth but with nice depth and richness as well. This is at a very nice point of maturity.

this bottle was a bit disappointing. probably should have been consumed when it was a bit younger. lacking exuberance. bit of an off taste suggesting over exposure either to metal or sulfur. had hoped for more.
