Nice licorice and chocolate right upon opening. Still has a way to go. Clear red barbaresco color. Spice, fruit and acid have become more balanced, but remarkably tannic. Coats mouth and lasts forever. Not unpleasant but a bit over powering. Keep longer.

Decanted 3 hours and was actually pretty harsh right after opening. Very mineral driven with truffle funk, tobacco, and tart candied cherry. Needs 5 more to years or a substantial decant as it continued to improve with time. Loads of griping tannin on the finish. Coloration on the end of the cork was bizarre leading me to think it was spoiled (grey/brownish).

Hot and harsh at first but smoothed out after an hour in the decanter. Tannic and mouth drying on the finish but fortunately not tart. Medium bodied with a deep palate black cherry, candied raspberry, spice, sweet tobacco, and cool minerality. Needs time to soften the tannins. Maybe 3-5 more years?

Quite hot and volatile at first. Needed an hour or more to settle out. But after that it had a lot of classic and enjoyable barbaresco character. Medium weight, aromatic raspberry fruit, long acidity. Not all put together.

84 is an average of my score and my partner's (87 and 81). It's fresh and balanced, but a little underwhelming on the nose and palate; some of the flavours are too subtle, despite many hours of air-time, compared to some other Bs of this vintage. Still, you'll find, depending on the nose, the typical red fruit, dried apricots and/or cranberries; some leather, licorice on the nose; and a beautifully long finish. <Pawel and Agnes>
