Color: very dark garnet red with distinct purple-ish hue; deeply concentrated; visible suspended sediment makes this wine look even more opaque than it is; in dim lighting, this wine looks nearly black except for a thin ring of reddish-purple around the edge
Nose: blackberry/boysenberry, black pepper, prune, alcohol, chocolate, vanilla
Palate: Open just an hour, I found this wine to be extremely closed, acidic to the point of being acetic, extremely grippy tannins. Searching past these properties I find hints of blackberry and green olive, lingering soy/ coffee finish.
At 2.5 hours: Acid has calmed some, as have tannins. Now getting earthy bright berry tones flowing into a vanilla oak finish. Somewhat short.
At 4 hours: acid is much better and in balance. Bright blueberries backed by a butteriness. Kinda a blueberry cobbler with a shortbread crust. Medium finish.
This wine needs a minimum of 3 hours decant time right now to show well.

This wine has held up well, though I’m not a huge fan of petite Syrah. Strong aromatics, but the fruit has faded. Drink up.

Just okay. Not distinctive enough for a petite syrah.

Nose: subtle pepper, strong cherry. Big, balanced. Nice. Their estate Petite Sirah. Tasted at Esquin.

This is wonderful wine, smooth as silk nose of blueberry and cassis, fine grained tannins will age beautifully
