Had this with a meal of confit de canard. Took quite a while to open up, perhaps I was too impatient. Smelled oranges and lots of red fruit and some sous bois. A tad underwhelmed.

Pop and poured. At home. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of airy perfume, dark red florals, stony minerality, dark red cherries, some green sappiness. Some earth funk with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium- tannins that get more sticky with air, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, dark red spice, green sap, stony minerals and earth undertone. Long finish. Very good quality. Has features of the 2011 vintage. Rather approachable and enjoyable actually. Very drinkable. Liked this more than expected. VV old vines giving the wine a darker edge. Drink and enjoy over the next 3-4 years. No need for extensive age. Punches way above its weight for a village level Chambolle.
