Weird pairing with chicken sausage, peppers and onions, but it worked. The extra age really paid off. This was a balanced Zin, not as big and fruity as some, but elegant and satisfying at once. Same profile as before, but I was right about waiting, clear improvement.

On opening, was a little light. Seemed we were drinking too young. Aromas of blackberry plants (fruit, leaves, wood, the whole thing), a little spice. Acids were good enough to stand up to the tomato sauce in the baked ziti. Good tannins and a nice rocky, mineral note. After it was open for a while, started getting bigger and riper, but never felt any heat and never got out of balance. I think it has some longer term potential, but with air it is good to go now.

Garnet color with black and red fruits, leather and spice aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and balanced with red currant, black cherry, blackberry and spice flavors. 14.15% alcohol

Nice balance. Not overly fruity. Elegant for a zin.
