  • Last bottle. At the beginning, the wine was quite disjointed and acidic, and then after 2 hours of air, it came into place. Scents of blue fruits with a hint spices and oak, followed by a sleek and taut mouthfeel, there is good vibrancy in the mid palate, ending in a long minerally inflected bitter cherry pit finish. A cold year so laking in depth and sap, and while this is good now, there is still plenty of upside to develop more perfume in the years to come.

  • Light to medium red. Very expressive nose of red fruit and some earthiness. Light but perfectly balanced palate of red cherry and some spice and saline character. Very elegant NSG, perhaps more Vosne in character. Lovely medium finish. Standout harmonious. Everything in balance and singing together.

  • I like Grivot in cold years, because the Domaine is as always one of the last to harvest the fruit, so usually there is no green dilution in lesser vintage at the Domaine, and the fruit is at maturity. Aromas of red and blue fruits, floral with violet notes, with a hint of green that disppeared after an hour, plenty of Vosne spices, a sappy mouthfeel, plums and blue fruits, elegant and lush, diplaying great persistent power for the vintage, in a chalky, bone dry long finish. The Nuits power play started to fully emerge after 2 hours of air. For me one of the best 1er Nuits in this vintage, and more Vosne than Nuits on the nose but retaining the fiery Nuits tannins. This is a tremendous success for a cold year, and a treat, a joyful wine.

  • Very green verging on flawed.

  • Felt quite ready to go. Very slightly tight for around 15 minutes after opening, with the nose not yet giving a great deal and some greenness on the palate, but thereafter got going nicely, especially on the shimmering, intoxicating nose: trademark Grivot blackcurrant, slightly earthy, slightly gamey, occasional hints of flowers, ending up with musk and borscht. The palate never quite matched up - it is a 2011 after all - with a feeling of slight underripeness sneaking up with every sip. Would probably have been better with food, but the nose meant it provided plenty of entertainment regardless.
