Wow. I opened the 2003 a few days ago, and it seemed very tired. Not this one! Firing on all cylinders. The fruit is still prominent, but beautifully balanced by additional characteristics. Hay, green olive, licorice... Acidity keeps the finish fresh. This could go for many more years, but I don’t know if it will get any better.

A pretty good wine in the big, New World style. There is a lot of fruit, yes, but there is also structure to it and some of the secondary savory nuances that you want to see out of a syrah. Not completely my style, but well-made enough that it won me over.
