Dark garnet appearance with slightly garnet rim, just starting to show development in color. On the nose it feels very complex with ripe prunes, half dried dark cherries with some cured meats savory tones and forest floor depth followed by those eye opening sweet spices of sweet cocoa beans and gentle star anise... simply wow without even sipping on it. On palate refelects perfectly what the nose says with all characters still going, from primary fruit of dark cherries, prunes + a touch of blackberry to gentle tetiary earthy tones of wet soil and sweet mushrooms. Spices on palate are feeling like a proper mocha coffee with good bright single origin coffee with great complex cocoa stuffing to it. Acidity is still alive but completely resolved and tannins are ghost like, that you perceive but not feel...or maybe vice versa. Overall feels outstanding considering that this is Barbera (“second tier” piedmont grape after Nebbiolo) and it shows quite a long plateau ahead with its mid lenght aftertaste of bright earth and ripe orange punch. Delish! Thanks to Robert Gherardi of MR BARVAL sharing this in Margaret River with me! Feeling blessed

The wine looks garnet colored. It smells like forest floor, mushroom and red-fruit jam, with some hematic notes. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture and finishes medium-long. Excellent balance.

Litt bittersyrlig i finish, noe støvete. Fin lengde.

Dark red colour, slightly bricking rim. Very concentrated good fruit, yet there is a marvellous elegance present held up by a terrific, yet not aggressive, acidity. Cherries and some lether on the nose, more cool red berry nuances hiding behind, with time more mature elements enter. Mirrored on the palate where the complexity stands more out, but there is purity and elegance that defines this wine; mature yet no rush. Long nice finish. Terrific! And it evolves further with air and time (actually better on day two).

(Scarpa Barbera d'Asti La Bogliona) Bricking dark ruby color; maturing, dried berry, black raspberry, sandalwood nose; maturing, ripe berry, tart black cherry palate with medium acidity (quite youthful compared to the '98); medium-plus finish
