Sweet almost mahogany nose and that note continues on to the attack, shows a touch of bitterness, orange zesty tang and a bit metallic on the palate. This has nice elegance and vitality, but it does not seem to come together.

"SG50" Dinner - A dinner to mark and celebrate 50-years of nation building! (Jade Palace): Wah... This was so so pretty and perfumed - violets, some roses... Most of us thought that this was the '88 Mugnier Musigny given the bricking. The palate was extreme elegant too, with notes of earth, plums, tea & again, that slight tinge of rose-syrup sweetness. Tannins were fully resolved, & it finished silky and long. Along with the '96 Rousseau Chambertin, these 2 were my candidates for WOTN. At this juncture, I'd think the Bouchard is more appealing but I've no qualms that the Rousseau will outlast it.

Nose was beautiful with spice, red currant and sous bois. Palate had good transperancy but quite soft for a 85 La Romanee. No reason to hold.

Vanilla and wood notes. Some harshness here. Underwhelming
