  • Almost twelve years old bottle open four hours before lunch. Pristine cork. Dusty ruby colour with watery edges. Elegant aromas of hawthorn flower, vervain and lavender, red and black berries, licorice yogourth, wet soil, blond tobacco or even flesh. Precision and complexity in the glass. The palate is less aristocratic but with a silky, tasty and juicy texture. Decided acidity that provides length. Warm and slightly tannic and alcoholic when finishing covering any glimmer of depth. Of course the best second Bordeaux wines I have drunk in recent times, anyway.

  • Very nice drinking now. Well rounded with a couple hour decant, expressive depth and secondary flavors. Definitely not at the end of its drinking window. Will hold my other for a few more years.

  • Red Saint-Émilion. Merlot 70 % and Cabernet franc 30 %. Matured in new barrels for 18 to 20 months. 13,5 % alcohol.

    Deep dark red color.

Nice aromas of black fruit, black currant, walnuts and vanilla. Flavors of ripe black fruit, blueberries, vanilla, walnuts, cedar and butter.

Dry. Medium body. Medium acidity. Chewy tannins. Very good balance. Good structure. Elegant. Some complexity.

Medium finish with black fruit and vanilla.

A nice Saint-Émilion. No single weakness that stands out. For a higher grade it would need more of “everything”. Drinks pretty well right now but is still a bit primary. 90/100

  • Visual: hazy, dense, dark red.
Scent: coarse, complex, berries, developed, oak, root vegetables, elegant.
Taste: well balanced, coarse, high acidity, a lot of long and dry tannins, long aftertaste, easy even though it is very young.

    Overall: a very good wine
