Great cork, decanted for 2 hours. Wine felt weak, lacking the fruit density of a Grand Cru. I chalk it up to the 97 vintage. Structure of the wine was beautiful. Great acid and a wonderful texture.

Tasting Note This elegant wine has a wonderful cloak of rich ruby red and a pungent nose of ripe red fruit with hints of caramel. The silky tannins lead to a soft, round finish which leaves you wanting more. Food Pairing Wild boar - roasted beef - roasted quail - duck "à l'orange" - mature cheeses

Consistent with the prior bottle, 7 years ago, this has turned out really lovely. Hard to pin down in a way, because I'm not sure it's done developing (and since this is my last bottle, I'll probably never know). Either way, this is a lovely wine, with an impressive balance of fruit and acid that really showcase the grape and place, not some style. Recommend at least 90 minutes in decanter as this was a bit unruly at first. Should hold at least 4-5 more years. At least. recommended
Served non-blind.

Nose - pencil shavings, dried meat, black cherry and ripe strawberry notes, grew in complexity. Palate - ripe berry, some meatiness, integrated acid, good acid tannin balance, developed in elegance a few hours after opening. Delicious wine!
