I’m in total agreement with everyone on this wine. It’s really slow getting off the starting block. Much more open and expressive on second day. Like many ‘99s these need time! Will hold on others for at least 5 more years.

Very pleasant but undistinguished. A wine to have with a decent lunch. Red fruit with some leather and earth. Medium bodied without a terribly long finish or a prominent aroma. Tannins are soft, acid medium plus, overall approachable rather than impressive.

Fascinating bottle. Clear deep garnet Upon initial decant, this had a rather strong industrial nose, which moved to fresh cigar and cigar ash. Then earth after an hour. Silky and rich earthy flavors, really a joy to drink after the initial pungency

1999 Burgundy Tasting (Yan's China Bistro, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Nose of black cherry, dry, dusty earth, black berry, black currants, and hint of saddle leather, more of the same on the palate, big body, very tasty, time to enjoy is now as it's past the peak, mouth filling fruit, opened the first 30 minutes, lovely, rich fruit, bigger body than the Corton Bressandes today, long finish.
