  • Though not necessarily known for Pinot Noir, the Robert Mondavi Winery always seems to make this Napa/Carneros offering a credible Pinot in it's price point. The nose is fresh and expressive plum and grapes with mild violets, something spicy and a good hit of alcohol. Plush, ripe, plum, black cherry and blueberry fruit. Interesting secondary mint and evergreen flavors. A good hit of French Oak and still evollving tannins. Of course it would not be Pinot without some serious acid that makes this 2012 still seem pretty youthful. I have seen this as low as $16 which is a serious value.

  • California Pinot Noir”, Flight 2, Wine 1: The wine was light to medium ruby in colour and offered jammy mixed berries, herbs, spices and liquorice on the nose, complemented by hints of mushroom, tobacco, and mint. On the palate the wine showed mixed berries, spices and liquorice, joined by hints of mushroom and tobacco, with medium-level acidity, well-integrated tannin, some heat from the alcohol and very good length. The medium-bodied wine seemed more complex and intriguing on the nose than on the palate; the alcohol stood out and affected the wine’s balanced. 87+ for now.

  • Medium body. Long finish. Great after work before and during dinner.

  • Great little Pinot. Fantastic bright acidity on the back end. Light towards the front but pops with berries when paired with salad or pizza. Its long and continues to introduce flavors for a good bit. Huge fan.
