Deep saturated red in color. A well developed nose shows smoky dark red berries and soy, forest floor, tree bark and hint of dried florals. A rather masculine palate shows earthy dark berries, savory dark soy sauce, brown spices, medium acidity and a structured finish. Typical of Jadot CCdB lacks the finesse of this GC vineyard.

Double decant. So much muscularity and power right out of the gate. Brawny nose with deep black fruit and a touch of spice. Depth of flavor on the palate that lingers and deepens over time in the glass. This was clearly WOTF with the '99s as it gathered more air and broadened.

A (Burgundy Grand Cru) Birthday Celebration (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): From magnum. Fleshy black cherry and plum with braised meat spice. This is a powerhouse of a wine and still wonderfully fresh. I only recall having this wine once before, which slightly disappointed in 2016, so today's experience was a thrill.

Dark hazy red in color. Dark red fruits, dried florals, forest-floor and a hint of licorice. Palate shows rich but silky & earthy dark red compote, hint of savory brown sauce, good acidity, fully resolved tannins and a long earthy and floral perfumed finish.

(Louis Jadot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Domaine Louis Jadot) Medium cherry red color with clear meniscus; nice ripe cherry, floral, roses nose; very tasty tart cherry, red fruit, mineral and iron palate; medium-plus finish 93+ pts.
(Jadot Louis Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze) After 4 months without a corked bottle, bugger - corked - now I only have 4 of these left. The colour is medium, medium-plus ruby red with just a little less cherry red at the rim than the first wine. The nose starts with a waft of dark, spicy oak but this is quickly gone to reveal a dark and understatedly spicy base. Time in the glass opens the wine out into a redder and finer vernacular without much in the way of density. Lithe and rather linear the plate shows forward acidity, but such is the superb intensity that this is kept quite in balance. What tannin can be discerned against the background of acidity and intensity has just a little astringency and the faintest edge of bitterness. The length is impressive, but it is rather ‘thin’ and an extension of the flavours I associated with the tannin, just a little tart too. The nose is now rather good, but the palate needs some time and currently shows much less ripe than the Mugnier Amoureuses.
