Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • lovely, but needs a 2 hour decant and proper food. 1988 and a traditional winemaker might give one pause and cause to worry about austerity, but Lafarge never disappoints; the wines just need time. Prominent structure yields with air, lovely currant and sous bois emerge, perfect with cote de bouef and miles to go before it sleeps

  • Lovely wine, but needs time to open up. From a bottle in good condition with a sound cork and good fill, this was quite reticent and closed initially. Plenty of material and tannin in keeping with the vintage. Starting to open up with earth, sous bois, dark fruits after an hour, excellent after 2 hours in the decanter. Proper burgundian weight and balance. I would imagine that this could live a very long time. Great source for traditional style burgs.
