  • Last lunch club meetup for a while (Sydney, Australia): Great colour - deep red and only just fading out at the edges. Cherry, herb, graphite, ash, meat and rhubarb. Medium bodied palate, good balance and medium length. Could do with a little more complexity but it is holding up well and probably as good a bottle as you are likely to get at this point.

  • Really wasn't expecting much from this one. The cork was soaked 3/4 of the way along but the remaining 1/4 was holding on for dear life. It was a wrestle to remove the cork and it didn't happen in one piece, but once done and decanted it started to show the classic cabernet characters of cassis and leafy green aromas, combined with nutty oak and old portish dry fruit. There's a hint of meatiness or something savoury in there too, like cooking spice. The colour is still deep red with a brown rim. The palate is smooth and refined, and dominated by oak flavours as some of the fruit has faded, but it's still delicious and balanced in it's own way. There's still a bit of length too with the acid in harmony with the lingering fruit. A fantastic and memorable wine, took a wild chance with this one and was pleasantly surprised.

  • Remarkably youthful in color. Medium to light body and still ruby red virtually without any evidence of age. Fruit still dominant and sweet. Crisp and acidic. Not great complexity. Faded rather quickly though. Looked young but drank old..
