  • Deep purple. Rich black berry fruit, coco, tobacco leaf, an animal element and lots of intense green pepper on the nose. Big in the mouth with some resolving tannins and good acidity, smoke and tobacco. Recently, had a 97 which was over the hill so my expectations were low but this was really good!

  • Started off like a classic aged cab, with nice tertiary flavors and pleasingly controlled fruit. Unfortunately, a heavy green note impinges towards the end and really sours the experience. Not terrible overall by any means, but disappointing, as this could have been really excellent.

  • Filtered because the cork absolutely disintegrated; decanted 30 minutes. Mature, classic WA Cabernet with aged red and black cherry fruit, green bell pepper (capsicum for the Aussies), and V8/carrot. Even has some nice graphite mineral on the initial attack. Just great. No upside to more cellaring—drink now.

  • Bottle variation!! Beautiful austere cabernet with strong dark fruit, eucalyptus, mint, cassis. Flavors similar adding some leafy tobacco, faint cedar and sandalwood. Finish was soft, luxurious with great pebbly minty tannin last > 45 seconds. Oh my, this was beautiful tonight.

Found this on counter the next day and it was even better. Increases score to 94+.

  • This wine opened to a strong stemmy, vegetal nose that I found at times sharp. It waxed and waned over the course of several hours. At one point about 3 hours, that sharp veg/stemmy nose abated revealing a spicy clove oak, bloody game, dark red fruit, eucalyptus oil flavors with cassis, mint, rather moderate pebbly tannin and a 30 second finish. Some of the stems were present in the throughout the palate. This was tough to get through and enjoy, pairing with cheese as suggested below would help.
